Treasured Toys

This summer I found some of my favorite toys as a child. These Barbies are from the early 60's...guess they almost qualify as ANTIQUES...but I don't want to think of that because that would make me one too! *laughing*

I also realized I was an interesting mix of a "girly girl" and a tomboy. I loved june bugs, roll pollys, tinker toys and Tonka trucks...but the next minute I would be dressing up my Barbies and writing melodramas for my sister and me to perform for the neighborhood kids. what a fun and diverse childhood I had...and it just seems like yesterday....wait --it was yesterday...I couldn't resist dressing up the Barbies when I took their pictures...afterall they had to be ready for the photoshoot!
Remember to take time to "play" everyday!

  1. You know what? You talk so highly of your sister and yet we have never seen a picture.

I particuarly like the truck picture.

Speaking of playing, I'm trying to find a time to scrapbook this weekend. Are you interested in getting together? I could have eiter Friday night or Sunday afternoon available.

  2. Hey Chelle...I put a picture of my sister here right after Thanksgiving..I will post it again in a day or so...it is a favorite one of mine. I need to see how this week goes work wise before I know if I can play or not...Royce and Weston get home this weekend and I want to do a few things to get ready for them. If it works out though I would LOVE to play.

  3. Wow. So cool!!! Where did you find them? Share! Now all you need is some old June bugs and roly-polys to finish out your collection. ha-ha!!

I want to get Caroline Tinker-Toys for her birthday this year. I love classic toys. I have this awesome book about all the classics, I'll have to bring it the next time we're going to see each other. TFS!

  4. I was the same way as a child. My mom was forever checking my pockets because I was bad about putting bugs in them. I was the only girl on my street my age. The rest of them were either older or babies. So, I was a tomboy. Then I got into the barbies and all that girly stuff. I remember my mom threatening to cut all my hair off because I refused to let her get near me with a hair brush. I wore a baseball cap most of the summer. I sure wish I had photos of all this. Makes me so sad that I don't. I am just glad that Miss K won't be able to say the same when she is older.

  5. PS - And is it me or does Weston look like Asthon Kutcher in that picture below? Similar name too.

  6. Hey Tracie... These were my actual toys...I just found them while we were cleaning out my mom's house this summer. I will search on-line for you and see if there are any Tinkertoys made today.

  7. What a cool mom you must have had to save all these treasures! Not that mine wasn't cool, but after raising all us kids (7 total) I think she was probalby just glad to get the stuff outta the house. I did have a Donnie and Marie doll-but my sister cute Marie's hair, pierced her ears and my poodle chewed his toes off. SO, if you find anything like that on Ebay-it was mine!

  8. How fun!!! I was all tom-boy...playing kick the can, cops and robbers and making worm hotels out of bricks. I had 1 doll that I would play with on occasion and that was the Mandy doll. She was usually being kidnapped and my friends (mostly guys in my neighborhood) would go out and rescue her!
As for your men, I will say another prayer for them - what an incredible trip!
